Miki Dora
1 x 90
This is a film about surfing and a life of crime, a man who created and defined a way of life ….
Miki Dora, a man shaped by a patriarchal dichotomy. His life can be defined by the very pronounced split between the attitudes of his father and his stepfather and his adoration for a mother who died young.
Miki Dora was the King of Malibu and the man who launched the surf culture that brought us Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon, Beach Blanket Bingo, Gidget, and The Beach Boys. Miki was good looking, wealthy and well bred. Additionally, he was a military cadet and a member of Hollywood’s ruling youth beach culture. He was the dark Prince of the sport, a criminal, a connoisseur of fine wine and fast cars, a liar, a cad, and an aesthete of the highest order. Miki Dora was on Interpol’s most wanted list for nearly twenty years. He was a fugitive in Europe while maintaining relationships with members of the internationally prominent banking dynasty of The Rothschilds. Miki Dora is as fascinating a psychological study. A surfing legend and an international outlaw who retired as a gentleman in the south of France. He died at his Father’s house in Montecito, Santa Barbara, California. This is his story.
