Logline: Larry Pratt has finally found happiness. After years of feeling life isn’t quite right, he meets the love of his life on a trip to Japan… a holographic animated character named Mei! Larry’s family aren’t sure what to make of this bizarre situation when he and Mei move back in with them in their suburban house in Bristol. Is Larry crazy? Or is he just embracing a life choice that is the right one for him? And what will this do to the family?
The narrative delves into Larry’s journey of self-discovery, unconventional choices, family dynamics, and societal perceptions, culminating in a blend of humour, drama, and introspection.
This project follows the Pratt family, focusing on Larry’s marriage to an anime character named Mei. This unconventional choice causes a rift within the family, especially with Larry’s sister who is dealing with her own personal struggles.
As Larry attends an Anime Spouses Support Group with his family, they encounter a diverse group of individuals with similar experiences. The dynamics within the support group shed light on the reasons behind marrying anime characters and provide a platform for sharing and understanding. Larry meets Erin, a tough ex-army member.
The season ends with Larry, Erin, and the Support Group uncovering a deeper mystery surrounding the anime characters’ independence and sentience. The group suspects a conspiracy involving the company behind the anime characters but discovers a more complex truth.
